Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 pass grades at GCSE (minimum of grade 4)
What will I study?
A range of different units with a mixture of assessment methods.
All students on both courses will study:
Unit 1 – Anatomy and Physiology
Unit 2 - Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being
Unit 3 – Professional Development in the Sports Industry Fitness Testing for Sport
Unit 4 – Sports Leadership
Students on the Diploma will study the following additional units:
Unit 5 – Application of Fitness Testing
Unit 17 – Sports Injury Management
Unit 22 – Investigating Business in Sport and the Active Leisure Industry
Unit 22 – Investigating Business in Sport and the Active Leisure Industry
Unit 23 – Skill Acquisition in Sport
Unit 25 – Rules, Regulations & Officiating 
Assessment

You will develop strong analytical skills and the ability to carefully consider opposing opinions when reaching balanced conclusions. You will be able to construct balanced, reasoned arguments and weigh-up various factors involved.

Units 1, 2 & 22 will be externally assessed in exam conditions. All other units will be internally assessed in the form of coursework, practical tasks and presentations.

What skills will I gain?
You will gain and develop a range of skills in BTEC Sport including communication, team work, investigation skills, evaluation and analysis methods. These will all form part of your assessment methods too.
Studying beyond the classroom
Opportunities for industry experts to be involved and for learning to take place in the local facilities such as gymnasiums and stadia.
Future pathways
The National Diploma can equip you for a number of careers including teaching, sports management, coaching, physiotherapy, sports psychologist, media, business, and dietetics. As well as encouraging higher sporting performance. The National Diploma is also widely accepted as an entry qualification to most professions as well as to Higher Education Courses. Students studying this course have gone on to the top Sports Universities in the UK.
