Exam ResultsĀ - Summer 2020

As you are aware, your results this year (available 13th August) have been worked out using a number of factors:

How will your BTEC/Cambridge Technical grades be calculated?

Teachers were asked to provide:

  • Actual grades for internal units that you completed
  • ā€˜Centre Assessment Gradesā€™ for internal units that you were not able to complete, based on available evidence and what your teachers felt you most likely would have achieved under normal circumstances
  • A rank order of all learners on your course, based on what teachers felt you would most likely achieve at qualification level, under normal circumstances.

How will your A Level grades be calculated?

Teachers were asked to provide:

  • ā€˜Centre Assessment Gradesā€™ based on available evidence and what your teachers felt you most likely would have achieved under normal circumstances
  • A rank order of all learners on your A Level course, based on what teachers felt you would most likely achieve at qualification level, under normal circumstances.
Your teachers based their decisions on a range of evidence, including any relevant assignments you completed, any prior exam or mock results, and your performance during the course.Ā

It is important to remember that the final decision about the grade that is awarded is determined by the exam board so the grade your teacher suggested as part of the CAG may not necessarily reflect the grade you get.Ā

If you are unhappy with the grade you achieve, or would like to sit the exam to see how you will perform, there will be an opportunity to do so in the autumn term. Similarly, there is anĀ appeals processĀ that you could proceed with if you to contest the grade you have been awarded by the exam board.Ā  More information is available here:

Cambridge Technical qualifications are releasing information on their appeals procedure later next week, so we will update you on this once we have done so.

We will be in touch to confirm the exact arrangements for an appeal once the all qualifications have confirmed the final decision about the procedure.Ā Ā

Any questions, please let us know.

Best wishes,
