Assesment

Paper 1 Topics 1 - 6.1, 2 hours, worth 34%
Paper 2 Topics 1 - 8, 2 hours, worth 34%
Paper 3 Practical assessment plus option (Astrophysics), 2 hours, worth 32%
Practical endorsement (non-exam assessment)

The accessible assessments allow students of various abilities to shine. Practical skills gained throughout the course via Core Practical completion are assessed within paper 3.

What skills will I gain?

A variety of experimental techniques, data interpretation, mathematical applications and problem solving.

A-level Physics is a challenging, rewarding course that aims to develop problem solving skills and application to a wide range of challenging content. A-level Physics builds on the concepts and investigation skills developed in the GCSE and it is particularly suitable for students who have the skills and knowledge associated with a GCSE Separate Science Course in Physics.

Studying beyond the classroom
Astrophysics Club, Christmas lectures, STEM trips and links with Nottingham University.
Future pathways
Students who study A-level Physics may go on to a Physics-related degree course or secure employment in a variety of competitive apprenticeships. For example, Rolls Royce.
