Exam cancellations due to the coronavirus
The Awarding of Examination Grades
The link below provides basic details of how the government and exam regulator, Ofqual, anticipate grades will be awarded to students whose exams have been cancelled this summer.
In summary, Ofqual, and exam boards will work with teachers to provide grades that to take into account a range of evidence and data including performance on mock exams and non-exam assessment – clear guidance on how to do this fairly and robustly will be provided by Ofqual to schools and colleges.
The exam boards will then combine this information from schools with other relevant data, including prior attainment, and use this information to produce a calculated grade for each student, which will be a best assessment of the work they have put in.
Ofqual and exam boards will be discussing with teachers’ representatives before finalising an approach, to ensure that it is as fair as possible.
More information will be provided by Ofqual as soon as possible.
We know that many students and parents will be anxious about this process but please trust that we will do the very best for our students to ensure they are not disadvantaged. As soon as we receive the guidance we will write to parents and students.
If Universities do contact Year 13 students directly it would be helpful if you could please update Mrs Parker Dennis.
